The cruise up
Seydisfjordur this morning at 08:00 was breath-taking. It is easily one of the most beautiful fjords
we have visited. We had clear blue skies
and the sea was flat calm. Fantastic! I would go as far to
say that Seydisfjordur is the prettiest location we have visited in all of
Iceland and that is saying something!
Lots of people opted to join the leisurely walking tour around Seydisfjordur. At 11:00 there was a church service to honour seamen and their families.
Just about everyone
took advantage of the beautiful weather and went exploring this picturesque
town on their own. All too soon it was
time to bid adieu to Seydisfjordur as we had two destinations again today. Our next stop was Eskifjordur.
About 20 minutes
outside of Seydisfjordur the Captain took Fram close to an excellent seabird
cliff where we had good views of Northern Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Guillemots and a
few Puffins.
We weren’t due to
arrive in Eskifjordur until 16:30 which provided time for a couple of lectures.
In Eskifjordur we had several optional
excursions on offer. The spectacular
tour to Moifjordur was very popular and seven people chose to go horse back
riding on Icelandic horses.
Several of our guests
went fishing in our Polar Cirkel boats with some of our officers. While the weather was really ideal for
boating, and viewing sea bird colonies, perhaps it wasn’t the best for
fishing. This time our fisherman caught
very few fish, but they all had a great time on the water!
In the evening the
ship’s crew once again entertained everyone with a show in the Observation
Lounge at 22:00
